Taking action is at the heart of UMatter. There are many ways to care for yourself and others.
UMatter promotes caring for yourself through the concept of "wellness". Action Matters provides you with resources to build systems that guide you towards holistic and sustainable well-being, including both in-the-moment self-care techniques and longer term habits.
UMatter promotes caring for others through bystander intervention: taking safe and effective action when you see a problem occurring or about to occur.
Action Matters helps you to to intervene by equipping you with the skills to:
- Notice and assess situations (high risk drinking, mental health distress, interpersonal harms and violence) of concern
- Develop an array of intervention skills
- Recognize and overcome common obstacles to action
- Take safe and appropriate action
The safety and well-being of the Princeton community is a shared responsibility, and Action Matters helps prepare you to do your part.
